Some 130 species have been recorded here, and the pan of the reserve's name supports one of the largest inland breeding colonies of the grey-headed gull. Sacred ibis also breed here in substantial numbers. The 100 ha reserve is fringed by grassland, exotic trees and land that is being allowed to return to its natural state. Location: Central Gauteng; Boksburg. Access: From the N12 in Boksburg take the R21 in the direction of Johannesburg International Airport/Kempton Park and then the first exit, to Jet Park/Bartlett; turn left, and then left again into Kelly Rd; cross the 4-way stop and the Rolfe's Pan Nature Reserve lies directly ahead.
